Over the summer the Style Network came out with a show called "Too Fat for 15: Fighting Back". In this show there was a girl named Tanisha Mitchell, 17 years old, and weighed in about 476lbs. She was one of the biggest girls there, but also one of the most optomistic. Every year they give the kids a choice of doing a 5K run/walk, and Tanisha decided she wanted to do it this year. BUT the onsite healthcare provider over ruled her wish to walk, and told her she could not do it. This made me, and Tanisha's counsilour extremely upset. I realize that there are health risks with a girl this big, but to not even give her the chance to try broke my heart and broke hers too. I want to know what you think.
I couldn't find a clip, but its on episode 4 if your interested.
In this blog I will talk about the health risks and ways to improve Childrens health. I realize that many of you reading this do not have kids, but maybe you have younger siblings, cousins, or friends that could get some use out of this information.
