The White Houses' First lady, Michelle Obama has been working on this new project called "Let's Move". The main focus of this campaign is to raise a healthier generation of kids, which I believe is a great idea. But its not going to be easy. Getting kids to play and be active especially with the help of many organizations such as the NFL and the NBA is easy enough, as well as, convincing schools to offer healthier lunches, but i think the hardest part will be getting the parents involved. The only way to make a healthier generation of kids is if their parents cooperate and participate, because kids can't buy or make their own food. They eat whatever or wherever their parents take them. However I think this is something that can be improved upon and even successfully reached in the future. I admire her dedication and passion towards this problem in our country. I posted the link to the official website below if you would like to check it out.

I think this is the best project pursued by a First Lady in a long time. It is admirable that she is choosing to take on one of the biggest health issues here in the U.S. So many children are becoming addicted to technology that leads to a sedentary lifestyle. I think it will be most difficult to drag children away from this technology. I also love that Michelle Obama planted a garden at the White House.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that the parents are a great contributing factor to children's obesity. Children may be able to make their own decisions to an extent but it is the parent's providing the food, and the parents need to teach their children healthy eating habits. This does become an issue when the parents don't have healthy eating habits themselves! When I was young I believed in "fat genes" 100% because I often noticed obese children with obese parents. Of course genetics is a factor but if the parents make it a point to be healthy, the children will more likely follow in their footsteps.
